UMCOR US Disaster Response and Recovery
UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own. Through UMCOR, United Methodists extend loving care to people within the United States. When disaster strikes, it is local churches that provide the first response to their communities. This basic understanding—that disaster response is local—forms the foundation for UMCOR’s US disaster training and response. When responding to a disaster in the United States, UMCOR provides training, financial assistance, expertise, and community collaboration to churches and partners making them more resilient to disasters.
UMCOR has released initial solidarity grants to longstanding partners, International Blue Crescent (IBC) and Forum for Development Culture and Dialogue (working in Syria) to help provide tents, heaters, blankets, warm clothes, ready-to-eat meals, and first aid kits to those who have been displaced. IBC has offices in Turkey.

Pastor Kate joins us from Westport Point UMC as a Provisional Elder. She is seeking ordination within the United Methodist Church and hopes to accomplish that in June of 2023. She has recently graduated with her Doctorate in Ministry with a focus on Chaplaincy from Liberty University, and her passion for outreach lies in working with First Responders. Prior to coming to Chicopee, Kate served as an Assistant to the Pastor at Northside UMC in Brewster, MA for five years, and graduated with her Masters in Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia in 2013. In 2016 she was appointed at Westport Point UMC where she completed her Methodist ordination academic studies at Boston University School of Theology in 2017-2019.
During her time in school and at previous appointments, Pastor Kate has enjoyed helping with various community events and being the bridge between the church and the world. She looks forward to making this happen not only as the Pastor of Faith UMC but also as the new Chaplain for the Massachusetts State Police. Lastly, Pastor Kate hopes that Faith UMC can be a beacon of light and lead the way for positive change by bringing the community together in various ways, so that we can share our faith and be the change we all wish to see in the world.

Adult weekly Bible Study provides a place to ask hard questions, find support, and practice living the life of faith. Our mission projects provide ways to get your hands dirty and serve your neighbor. Get connected to others living a life of faith.
